Who we are

Friends of the opera, in service of the opera

Founded in 1977, the Sarasota Opera Guild is an all‑volunteer organization that raises funds for the Sarasota Opera, introduces audiences to each season’s productions, and brings opera lovers together all year long.

Fellowship

Monthly Social & Singers meetings, luncheons, and celebrations — with live performances by Sarasota Opera artists and refreshments among friends.

Education

Our Prologue lectures open the door to every production of the season, and our scholarship fund helps young opera singers grow.

Fundraising

From the Poinsettia Luncheon to sponsorships large and small, Guild members provide vital support for the Sarasota Opera and its Youth Opera.

Summer Salon

Summer Salon #3 — “Tour de France!”

Date:Wednesday, August 5, 2026 · 11:30 AM

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club

Betsy Hudson Traba and Fernando Traba, principal flute and principal bassoon of the Sarasota Orchestra, journey through the “Gallic style” — the elegant Baroque curves of Boismortier, the mythical landscapes of Mouquet, and the Parisian charm of Grovlez and Bizet — before crossing the Atlantic to celebrate the historic friendship between the two nations. With pianist Jessé Martins. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.; lunch is served at noon.
